What Therapy Looks Like
The first one to two sessions, and sometimes more, are usually focused on assessment - understanding what brings you to therapy, your history, current difficulties and what you would like to change.
Together, we’ll clarify your goals, the most appropriate treatment approach and practicalities such as session frequency.
Where appropriate, a diagnosis may form part of this process and help guide treatment.
Therapy is tailored to your needs and may draw on one or more psychological approaches.
Where helpful, I can also work collaboratively with your GP, psychiatrist or other health and allied health professionals to support a coordinated approach to your care.
Sessions are available face-to-face or via telehealth. Initial sessions are 60 minutes, with subsequent consultations 50 minutes. For telehealth, you’ll need a private, quiet space and a stable internet connection. Sessions must not be recorded.
At times, I may suggest between-session activities such as reading, journaling or monitoring mood and thoughts. Brief psychological questionnaires may also be used to support treatment planning and track your progress over time.
