Therapeutic Approaches
Depending on your needs, I may draw from a range of evidence-based therapies, including:
Cognitive and Behavioural Approaches
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) – focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviours. In addition to the general model, I offer specialised/ enhanced versions of CBT for presenting issues such as chronic sleep issues including insomnia (CBTi), eating disorders (CBT-E) and trauma (TF-CBT, see below for further information).
Behaviour Therapy (BT) – uses principles of learning to modify behaviour where I use therapies such as Exposure-Response Prevention (ERP) and behavioural activation.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – helps people develop psychological flexibility through acceptance, mindfulness, and values-based action.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) – combines acceptance and change strategies, often used for emotion regulation, self-harm, and interpersonal difficulties.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) – integrates mindfulness practices with CBT principles.
Schema Therapy
Integrates a range of therapies (cognitive, experiential, interpersonal, behavioural) to help you understand and change longstanding patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving that may have developed from difficult or unmet emotional needs.
Trauma-Focused Therapies
Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT) – CBT adapted for trauma recovery.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) – focuses on changing trauma-related beliefs and interpretations.
Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) – gradual exposure to trauma memories and avoided situations.
Interpersonal and Relational Approaches
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) – focuses on relationships, grief, role transitions, and interpersonal conflict.
Existential Therapy
Explores meaning, identity, freedom, responsibility, and life transitions.
